Embody Seated Dance Classes
What do the classes involve?
Embody Seated Dance classes are specially designed for older people with limited movement, including adults with dementia and disabilities.
Embody Seated Dance Classes are designed for older adults and take place in day centres and residential care homes. Classes inspire individuals to move, reminisce and talk to each other, creating a fantastic, friendly and heart-warming atmosphere in care settings. Embody Seated Dance Classes fuse together music and dance to inspire participants to move and reminisce, to look up and to smile!
Embody Seated Dance Classes increase social interaction between participants as they are taken in a circle. This promotes eye-contact, inclusion of each individual and opportunities for the group to share their experiences. Classes use props such as scarves, bells, shakers and ribbons to aid movement and fill the room with colour and sound. Each class is tailored to the needs of the group with movements designed to mobilise joints, increase sensory awareness and break the routine! If some participants prefer to stand then we embrace this and cater for all.
How Does it Work?
We come to you!
An Embody Dance team member will come to your venue and deliver a class just for your group.
An Embody Dance team member will attend your centre on a weekly basis and deliver a tailor-made class just for your clients. Embody Dance teachers will create a sense of community within your care environment, using a person-centred approach. Embody Dance teachers learn all the class participants names and music tastes, likes and dislikes and tailor each class to the needs of the individuals.
Embody Dance currently provides classes for Alzheimers UK, Town Thorns BEN Care, The Stables Luxury Care Home, Saffron House Care Home, Alcester Dementia Café, Age UK Coventry and The Phoenix Group.
