70 Days of Free Dance Classes During Lockdown
Wake Up & Dance by Embody Dance
70 Days of Free Dance Classes During Lockdown. In March 2020 the news came that the UK was going into Lockdown. Upon hearing this, Embody Dance decided to commit to help anyone, in any way that they could!
Emma and James Bright decided to provide Free Wake Up & Dance Classes every weekday using Facebook Live. These classes began running in March 2020 and didn’t stop for 70 days!
Emma was very nervous at first and was glad to have her husband James by her side. James provided the live musical accompaniment on drums and guitar. There were also many cameo appearances by Emma and James’ two-year-old son Jenson!
Throughout Wake Up & Dance – Emma, James and occasionally Jenson, broadcasted classes live from their bedroom- sleeping on an airbed so they could turn their room into a studio every morning ready for action.
70 Days of Free Dance Classes included themes:
I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Strictly Come Dancing, Take That, Matilda, Beauty & The Beast, The Spice Girls, Taylor Swift, A VE Day Party, A Trip to Disneyland, and 66 more themes that changed each day!
Classes were not only attended by Embody Dancers but also by friends, family and people who had never even heard of Embody before the pandemic.
Wake Up & Dance was watched as far away as New Zealand and China!
Many Schools used ‘Wake Up & Dance’ as PE for their children to take part in at home and many parents have commented on how they provided much needed consistency and creativity throughout Lockdown. Wake Up and Dance Videos are still being watched today and many have over 2K views!
Wake Up & Dance remains to be one of Embody Dance’s biggest achievements to date.
Classes are still available to view on the Embody Dance Facebook Page and You-tube Channel today- check them out and get dancing!
